It's been a rough month for the Culbertson household. Recent events, in no particular order:
- Tania's thyroid is acting wonky and Tania feels crappy all the time.
- Norah catches Influenza B the weekend before her 5th birthday (despite getting the flu shot this year), runs a 103 fever for 6 days, forces the cancellation of her birthday party and spends her birthday at home sick on the couch.
- Lice begin to infest Norah's class at school - at first the Culbertsons escape the pestilence because Norah is at home sick anyway. At first...
- Tania gets laryngitis.
- Tania rear-ends someone for the second time in 6 months. $1406 in damages, no injuries.
- Norah catches lice from a classmate during her rescheduled birthday party.
This was my first time going through the de-lousing protocol, and it threw me into a frenzy. When her school found two nits on Norah Monday morning, I rushed home from work and immediately started bagging or washing everything I could get my hands on. Julian and the dog were lucky not to have been accidentally run through a spin cycle.
Everything washed (the laundry took two days), everything vacuumed, cars cleaned out, all heads but Julian's treated with chemicals. The nit-combing continues twice a day, although we haven't found anything else on Norah and she's back at school. New classmates continue to get infested on a daily basis. We're scheduled to re-treat our heads next Wednesday.
I don't like sitting on a plastic-coated couch, but the plastic-bag quarantine has to continue for twelve more days.
Good people, I'm exhausted!
